Correct answer: C. Yes — the Act allows the permit or a true copy of it to be carried

Section 7(5) says every driver of a motor vehicle on a highway shall carry "the permit for it or a true copy thereof", and shall surrender it for inspection on the demand of a police officer. A true copy satisfies the law, so the original does not have to travel with the vehicle — but something has to be in the car, and you must hand it over when an officer asks.
