Clearer driving. A safer Ontario.

What to bring for your Ontario M1 test

Bring the same identification and be ready for the same vision test a car licence applicant needs: DriveTest's general application requirements apply to a motorcycle licence too.

01

Identification and residency

DriveTest requires original identification proving your legal name and date of birth for any Ontario driver licence application, motorcycle included. Confirm the current acceptable-ID list directly at drivetest.ca, since exact accepted documents depend on your status in Canada and can change.

As with any new Ontario licence, you need to be able to confirm that Ontario is your primary place of residence and that your presence in Canada is legal.

02

The vision test

A vision test is part of applying for an M1, the same as it is for a G1. Bring the glasses or contact lenses you normally wear so the result reflects how you will actually ride.

03

Fee and payment

An M1 licence package fee is payable when you apply, the same as any other licence class. Check drivetest.ca's current fee page before your visit, since DriveTest is the only accurate source for the exact current amount and it can change.
